Tips for Accessorizing with Bracelets
Bracelets have always been an accessory staple, but they’re often overlooked by their more visible counterparts – necklaces, earrings, etc. Lately, bracelet styles have blown up, and now there are more styles than ever to choose from, making accessorizing even more fun! Here are some tips for navigating various types of bracelets.
• Typically, bracelets should be worn with shirts that do not cover the wrist (i.e. sleeveless shirts, tank tops, t-shirts and three-quarter length shirts), otherwise the sleeve overlaps the bracelet.
• The more arm showing, the chunkier you can go. For instance, if you’re wearing three-quarter length sleeves, you’ll probably want to stick with something smaller. On the other hand, if you’re wearing a tank top, a chunky cuff is a nice complement.
• Slender arms and wrists can be highlighted nicely with bigger, bolder bracelets. For less slender arms, wiry and delicate bracelets are slimming.
• Combine different types of bracelets – bangles, tennis bracelets, beaded bracelets – to create a funky, unique look all your own.
• Don’t overdo it. Coco Chanel always said to remove one accessory before leaving the house. If you’re going bold with the bracelet, hold back on the necklace and/or earrings, and consider eliminating one of the other two altogether.
